The Impact Centre in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto’s upcoming “Beyond Incubation” symposium is looking to bring entrepreneurial educators — instructors, educational developers, quality assurance professionals, program managers, researchers and entrepreneurs themselves — together to explore the evolving landscape of entrepreneurship education.
“We’re committed to helping train the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said Alon Eisenstein, experiential learning educator at the Impact Centre. “This conference will specifically explore experiential learning approaches in accelerators and incubators — as well as facilitate knowledge exchange between the Centre and incubators and accelerators in other post-secondary institutions across Canada.”
Keynote speakers are the Impact Centre’s founding director M. Cynthia Goh — a professor of chemistry and the academic director of U of T Entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto as well as the Centre for the Study of Canadian and International Higher Education director Creso Sá — a professor of higher education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
The conference agenda includes a number of panels, speakers and discussions aimed at measuring the success of curricular and extra-curricular programs that encourage and support student-led venture creation, capturing the learning that takes place in accelerators and incubators beyond economic metrics such as jobs created, valuation, investment secured and more.
